Sweeney Todd Review

Despite Oscar buzz, audiences heavily steered away from Tim Burton’s horror musical, Sweeney Todd. I, however, was excited to see it due to all the excitement and nominations its been getting. Besides, there isn’t a lot else on the market. The first 20 minutes or so are exhausting to get through. Perhaps it was weird to see those actors belting out tunes or as a result of every time you forget it was a musical, there’s one other song. But every time they started singing, it felt really inappropriate and awkward. Around the time little Toby (performed by the lovable Ed Sanders) will get on display screen for the first time, you’re feeling somewhat better as a result of he’s just so cute. This was additionally the first musical quantity that wasn’t so moody and darkish. Not that I didn’t recognize the moody and the darkish as a result of I did and should you see this film, anticipate a lot of that. It simply took a little bit of getting used to. You think of musicals as fun extravagant numbers with dancing and dazzle and all that jazz, but this film is much from that. The numbers are not particularly catchy or enjoyable, however disturbing and twisted. Try to read my other movie review I Could Love You If You’d Let Me – movie review by 123Movies.haus. However, by the point Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter began singing and dancing about placing lifeless individuals into meat pies, I was bought. The remainder of the film is just as delightfully dark and comical. It was an excellent story with several unexpected turns that had me considering “I should have seen this coming.” It was properly written and well filmed, with a rare solid. You should applaud the leads, Depp and Carter, for taking the cinematic danger they did. Both of them are on my list of best actors of all time and this movie is one of the the reason why. Another great casting was the all the time nice, Alan Rickman, who seamlessly portrays the creepy, perverted Judge Turpin, that Depp’s character is obsessive about killing. Fun fact for Harry Potter followers: his faithful sidekick Beadle in the film was played by Timothy Spall, who is the Wormtail to Rickman’s Snape within the Harry Potter franchise. Spall is one guy that I would like to see forged in a likeable function. He’s a good actor, but he performs the identical ratty little evil minion in each movie. But he was nice along with everyone else. Even Sacha Baron Cohen, who I hate with a fiery passion, was pleasant. And who knew Borat could sing? The verdict: test it out. It definitely deserves all the excitement it has been getting. It has one thing for everyone, when you do not thoughts a little throat slitting here and there. Do you assume it is wrong that seeing it put me in the mood for a meat empanada? Whatever, it was scrumptious and no less than there were no lawyers or priests in mine.
